About Roseau
Roseau is the capital and largest city of Dominica, built on the site of the ancient Island Carib village of Sairi. The compact urban settlement sits surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, the Roseau River and Morne Bruce, making it an ideal port of call for cruise passengers.
Within easy reach of the port, you'll find several notable attractions. The Dominica Botanic Gardens lies just 0.2 km away, offering tropical plant collections. A short walk further brings you to the Morne Bruce Viewpoint at 0.5 km, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The Dominica Museum is also nearby at 0.6 km, showcasing the island's cultural heritage.
Natural attractions
For those venturing slightly further, Roseau provides access to some of the Caribbean's most striking natural sites. Middleham Falls in Recoleta (6.5 km away) and Titou Gorge in Laudat (7.1 km away) are popular waterfall destinations. Morne Trois Pitons National Park, located 8.8 km from port, and Papillote Tropical Gardens in Trafalgar (5.7 km away) offer further exploration opportunities for nature enthusiasts.
Roseau is the capital and largest city of Dominica, with a population of 14,725 as of 2011. It is a small and compact urban settlement, in the Saint George parish and surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, the Roseau River and Morne Bruce. Built on the site of the ancient Island Carib village of Sairi, it is the oldest and most important urban settlement on the island of Dominica.
